Award-winning Zenkai proprietor and practitioner Dr Danielle Slade, registered Acupuncturist – fondly known as Dr Dan by her patients – has moulded a space that is a reflection of her rich professional character.
DR DAN IS PASSIONATE ABOUT THE JOURNEY TOWARD WELLNESS
With a wealth of experience accumulated over a nearly 25-year career to date, you will walk away from a conversation with Dr Dan not only reassured she is very knowledgable in her field, but filled with a sense that you now also carry knowledge about your health and wellbeing.
Dr Dan has evolved her rich repertoire of natural therapy techniques from an understanding that the “one size fits all” solution to health and wellbeing is far from adequate. And has sought to develop a wellness model for her practice through the conjunction of therapies that treat and address the spectrum of health and wellness conditions: diet, emotions, mind and spirit, exercise, and supplements. Traditional Chinese Medicine, kinesiology and natural therapies are her core practices.
A diabetic since the age of 3, Dr Dan was exposed to the lack of wellness protocols available through the traditional western medical system. Positive experiences with natural therapies left a lasting impression, along with an innate understanding of the base value of good health.
Dr Dan's professional journey started studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, which she valued for its clinical research foundation and experienced an immediate natural affinity with the technique. Dr Dan trained in Australia and collected a broad range of clinical experience, both in her homeland and overseas.
Driven by a desire to create a harmonious space that integrated practice and home, professional and personal, Dr Dan established her own private practice, Zenkai, seamlessly fusing her passions and greatest loves.
Dr Dan approaches every facet of life with a determination and passion to improve wellbeing. Seeking to enrich the lives of others and the local community in the very same way that she does her own.
Beyond her own practice, Dr Dan is the driving force behind a push to define Macedon Ranges as the wellness hub of Victoria. Her vision has motivated a collaboration of quality local practitioners to establish a referral network for servicing the well-being of greater Victoria.

THE APPROACH
Zenkai is all about promoting wellness and delivering patient-centred care. We seek to treat everyone who steps through our doors like they’re the only person in the clinic; you’ll have our full focus, and we are listening!
So how does the process work and where does the journey begin?
Each enquiry starts with a friendly phone call directly with Dr Dan where she will ask questions to get to the bottom of the facts regarding your health.
Calling on a wealth of experience accumulated over her award-winning career, this is where Dr Dan can gather vital information that will shape the thorough research that is conducted before meeting each patient in person.
More than simply diagnosing and prescribing, we want to help educate each patient with the aim to help them understand what the process will be, and how they can positively impact their treatment. Patient first means that you are a principle part of the process that will ultimately result in improved health and wellness (and in many fertility cases, a healthy baby!)
Zenkai utilises Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques such as acupuncture, cupping and Gui Shui. As well as Herbal preparations, Kinesiology and Natural Therapies.
THE ZENKAI SPACE
The sensory experience of a consultation at Zenkai is no accident.
Far from any High Street, you’ll find the practice tucked away in the beautiful Macedon Ranges just outside of central Woodend, the clinic surrounded by nature on all sides. Carefully crafted out of a desire to fuse home and business into a seamless ‘lifestyle experience’, an infectious calm and nourishing energy permeate every corner of the practice.
The Zenkai space has been designed so that patients feel comfortable the moment they step through the front courtyard. Finding a clear headspace and a feeling of tranquillity is all part of the experience!
Everything reflects the bright, warm forest-filtered light, beaming in through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, that frame the Blackwood Forest beyond. Surrounding the outer edges of the treatment rooms, a picture of serene stillness lays beyond the windows, a perfectly composed Japanese garden displays its myriad of soft emerald mosses and a lightly dappled Japanese maple.
Thought has gone into all interior and artworks; Each element represents the Zenkai journey (we particularly love the “Fertility Tree” by Tiffany Calder Kingston and The Bromley - which was purchased once Zenkai reached 500 babies!)
